Thank you for visiting our Chamber Chase informational page. The Chamber Chase has been scheduled for September 22, 2012. Details and additional information will continuously be updated on this page throughout the summer and in advance of race day. Thank you for your interest in the Chamber Chase and we look forward to seeing you this September!
2012 Information
Registration and packet pick-up for the Sault Area Chamber Chase Marathon, Half Marathon and Bridge Run and 5Kwill be held at Kewadin Casino. Hours will be on Friday night, September 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Everal Race Management will be providing Chrono Track Scoring. Every race participant will receive a disposable D-Tag chip. This eliminates the need for return chips at the end of race and lost chip charges.
The top three finishers in each age group receive an award. Our awards are a local product designed specifically for this race. Each place finisher will leave with a piece of the International Bridge! All participants will receive a finisher’s medal.
The Sault Area Chamber Chase (Full, Half, Bridge Run & 5k) will start on the grounds of Lake Superior State University in the parking lot of the James Norris Physical Education Center, then follow Easterday Avenue to the Easterday on-ramp to the International Bridge. On the bridge, the north bound lane will be closed to vehicle traffic as runners will use this lane both out and back. Once we leave the International Bridge, the race will follow the waterfront along the East portion of the St. Mary’s River. (Except for the 5k which follows a different route and does not cross the bridge.) The course is flat, except for the International Bridge and 100% paved. Click here for elevation chart. Expect a fast and scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available on any marathon course. There will be water stations along the course placed approximately every 1.7 to 2 miles. Aid stations and GU will also be along the course. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course.
The average high temperature at this time of year is 61°F, and the average low is 42°F. The race will continue in any weather conditions, however, lightning may prevent us from running the International Bridge. In the unlikely event (the Sault area rarely experience thunder & lightning storms in September), of lightning we will redirect the race to exclude the International Bridge.
