Join up to 500 runners as part of the 5th Annual Sault International Marathon (formerly Chamber Chase) on Saturday, September 27, 2014! Now in its fifth year, the Sault International Marathon provides runners with a unique opportunity to traverse the Sault Ste Marie International Bridge and run along side the St. Mary's River all set against the backdrop of beautiful fall foliage and cool E.U.P. temperatures. The Race concludes at downtown Sault Ste Marie, where the 12th annual Oktoberfest will commence at 10:00am.

Registration & Transportation
Runners can register at Kewadin Casino of Sault Ste Marie and collect their racing bibs and other materials at the Sault International Marathon Expo. on Friday, September 26 from 5 - 8 pm at the Whitefish Point Room at Kewadin Casino and Convention Center. Race day registration and bib pickup at the LSSU Norris Center will also be available for all of the race formats from 5:30 am - 7:00 am.
All races will start on the campus of Lake Superior State University at the Norris Center with the finish lines located in downtown Sault Ste. Marie.
Transportation will be available to bring runners back to the starting line at the LSSU Norris Center.
All marathoners (including half-marathon) will receive a custom designed Moisture Management Technical shirt. Bridge Run and 5K participants will receive a Sault International Marathon cotton t-shirt. Please mark appropriate size (please note that Technical Shirts are cut to fit, not overcut so the sizes are true sizes, not a t-shirt size. On average, you will want to go up a size) on your registration form and note that shirts are not guaranteed if you register after September 1st.
The average high temperature at this time of year is 61°F, and the average low is 42°F. The race will continue in any weather conditions, however, lightning may prevent us from running the International Bridge. In the unlikely event (the Sault area rarely experience thunder & lightning storms in September), of lightning we will redirect the race to exclude the International Bridge.
Full and Half-Marathon
There will be water stations along the course placed approximately every 1.7 to 2 miles. Aid stations and electrolyte beverages will also be along the course. Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course.
Full and half marathons will start at 7:15 a.m. The full and half-marathon have a NEW ROUTE which will still include the International Bridge . The course is primarily fast and flat, with the exception of inclines on the International Bridge, and provides many scenic vistas throughout. The bridge run will start at 7:30 a.m. The bridge run is 6.6 miles and is an out and back course which includes the International Bridge and continues on Portage Ave to downtown Sault Ste. Marie finishing with a left turn on Ashmun St.. An elevation chart of the International Bridge is available by clicking on the highlighted link.

Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason. Sorry, no exceptions. Once we receive your entry, you will not receive a refund. If you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your number to anyone else. If you are registered for the marathon you may transfer to the half-marathon (if you registered for the marathon before the half-marathon fills) or Bridge Run without any refund of the difference. You can also transfer from the half-marathon to the Bridge Run without a refund of the difference. There is a $20.00 fee to transfer races.
Make Checks Payable to the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce and mail to 2581 I-75 Business Spur, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Your cancelled check will act as your confirmation.
Finisher medals are awarded to all finishers. The top three overall finishers for both men and women in each race will receive an awards. There will be male and female categories in each of the following age groups: 0-9, 10-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
A piece of the International Bridge, I-beams, will be available as a souvenir to bring home a part of the race with you. The I-beams will be first come first serve souvenirs (FREE) so please make sure to pick yours up at the finish line tents after your race.
Parking for the Sault International Marathon is available in lots A and B at the James Norris Physical Education Center of Lake Superior State University. You will need to walk a short distance to the starting location.

Yes, we are running the International Bridge; however, we are NOT entering Canada. Our route turns around prior to passing through Canada Customs. Because we are not entering Canada, you do NOT need to provide a passport or other travel documents to verify citizenship. Please note that no one is allowed on the Bridge without a runner's bib. U.S and Canadian Customs Officials will be on hand to ensure all participants follow the route and no one enters the race from the Canadian side of the bridge.
