Join us for our inaugural marathon. The race will include a full marathon, half marathon, 10k and a 5k. View the historic sites of Sault Ste. Marie as you traverse the International Bridge, run along the Soo Locks and travel east along the St. Mary's River.
What can you expect from running the International Bridge? Below are a few words from a local marathon runner who recently ran the Bridge:
The ascent from the start of the bridge to the top of the first arch is a nice gradual elevation and the scenery is so amazing I hardly noticed. I was breathing a bit hard when I reached the top, but it was fairly comfortable. I had a little rest on the down hill, then a bit of a climb before the long descent into Canada. Runners will be able to re-group a bit on this downhill. As expected, the ascent back towards the US is the longest and most challenging. It was not really tough, but for runners who haven’t trained well on hills, it’s going to be a challenge. Once I reached the top of that first arch on the way back, everything else seemed easy. I ran down the little downhill and back up to the top of the final arch without any trouble.
Overall I was so enthralled with the view that I did not notice the hills as much as I might have in another setting. THANK YOU TO OUR PLATINUM SPONSORS!
