Course

The Sault Area Chamber Chase (Full, Half, 10k & 5k) will start on the grounds of Lake Superior State University in the parking lot of the James Norris Physical Education Center, then follow Easterday Avenue to the Easterday on-ramp to the International Bridge.   On the bridge, the north bound lane will be closed to vehicle traffic as runners will use this lane both out and back.  Once we leave the International Bridge, the race will follow the waterfront along the East portion of the St. Mary’s River.  (Except for the 5k which follows a different route and does not cross the bridge.) The course is flat, except for the International Bridge and 100% paved.  Click here for elevation chart. Expect a fast and scenic race with some of the most breathtaking views available on any marathon course. There will be water stations along the course placed approximately every 1.7 to 2 miles.  Aid stations and GU will also be along the course.  Absolutely no roller blades, pets, wagons or other wheeled vehicles will be allowed on the course. No radio/tape, I-Pod, MP3 player, or similar head sets are permitted due to our RRCA insurance policy and for the safety of the participants.

Weather

The average high temperature at this time of year is 61°F, and the average low is 42°F. The race will continue in any weather conditions, however, lightening may prevent us from running the International Bridge. In the unlikely event (we rarely experience thunder & lightening storms in September), of lightening we will redirect the race to exclude the International Bridge.
