Student Citizen Award 2012

Seeking Nominations!

Student Citizen of the Year Award - 2012

The Education Committee of the Sault Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that we are again seeking nominations for the Student Citizen of the Year award, to recognize contributions of a Chippewa County high school student to the community. The award will be presented at the Chamber’s annual meeting and awards banquet on February 16, 2012.

One of the goals of the Education Committee is to honor those individuals who take the role of civic responsibility to heart. This award was designed to acknowledge volunteerism, community spirit, and citizenship. As today’s civic leaders, we want to cultivate and reward good citizenship in future generations and it is our hope that this award sends the message to our youth that citizenship is an important and valued attribute.

For the 2012 award year, we will honor one high school student from Chippewa County with a check for $1,000 in recognition of their service. Additionally, if the student attends Lake Superior State University on a full-time basis, the student will also receive a $1,000 scholarship (to be applied to their first year’s tuition).

An informational sheet as well as nomination guidelines are available below.  Nomination materials are due by Thursday, February 9th at 5 pm.
